Within that following is a special person that came up with a name for one of my older hens...
Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to
LOLA!
Today, I had the opportunity to be at home for an extended period of uninterrupted time - alone - and I decided to get back out to the chicken coop and try to finish some things up. I have given the chickens half of the hay barn essentially, and I had one more wall to build with chicken wire so that they will stay out of my half during the day.
Once I got out there, and had all of my tools out and set up, and decided what my game plan was going to be, I let the baby chicks out of the coop so that they could play around and get some sunlight and fresh air while I was out there to keep an eye on them and the cat. All things seemed to be going well, and then with more and more noise from my projecting, the big hens showed back up to see what was going on. Well I had to tell Lola that she had a new name. What I didn't expect was the obvious change in her demeanor. She went from this little squawking, hard working girl to this...
I mean, really! Can you say Diva?
I couldn't help it, but for the rest of the day I kept catching myself singing,
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star
Tony always tended bar
Across the crowded floor, they worked from 8 til 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?
At the copa Copacabana
The hottest spot north of Havana
At the copa Copacabana
Music and passion were always in fashion
At the copa.... they fell in love
Don't hate me when you're singing this later, hate the Diva.
Obviously Lola was the correct name for this girl! She seems to be wearing her moniker with pride and an attitude but what DIVA wouldn't???? Nuff said!
